The Cameron-McCauley District
The Cameron-McCauley District is located to the west of the UNC campus and is characterized by a relatively dense siting of houses set back from the street and shaded by a dominating tree canopy. Among the well-maintained bungalows and craftsman styled homes are a few brick ranch duplexes and the occasional Spanish hacienda and Queen Ann Victorians loaded with gingerbread trim. The beautiful Carolina Inn and several large fraternal residences are also part of this diverse neighborhood at the edge of downtown.
Demographics are as mixed as the housing styles in this district, with students, retirees, UNC professors and RTP professionals. The few children who live here are zoned for Carrboro Elementary School, Culbreth Middle School and East Chapel Hill High School. Homes in this district begin in $375,000 and up price range.
