Hundred Oaks
At the heart of Hundred Oaks is an acre of gorgeous parkland, the centerpiece of this unique and award winning community. Park benches dot the brick walkways; open flame gas lamps and fireflies gently light the evening. Bordering the park, front porches welcome friends and neighbors.
Developer John Hansen took great care to preserve the character of what once was the Bennett family farm when he developed Hundred Oaks. He restored the original farmhouse, built in 1917, in accordance with historic preservation guidelines. He painstakingly arranged the two-dozen lots around the acreage so as not to disturb the giant oaks. The circular Oak Park Drive, which loops around the central park at the highest point of the 37-acre parcel, was the tractor path Marvin Bennett followed coming home from the fields.
Residents of Hundred Oaks include families with children of all ages and a few retirees. Parents who wait with their children for the school bus are quick to plan neighborhood picnics, potlucks, and parties. Spontaneous cookouts in the meadow where the mile-long walking trail begins are not uncommon.
Homesites are set at the edge of wild flower meadows, encircle the park, overlook Goose Pond, or are tucked into the woods with vistas from dramatic old forest slopes to the hills beyond.
Hundred Oaks offers 35 families an ideal blending of community and privacy. Its location near the center of Chapel Hill and UNC provides convenient access to everything in the area. Yet, the natural character of this truly superb site embraces you in a world apart.
